In a new interview, Nicole Kidman, the ex-wife of legendary actor, Tom Cruise, revealed what it was like to endure two separate miscarriages. The 50-year-old actress said she felt “massive grief,” when she discovered that she miscarried at 23-years-old following her wedding to Tom in 1990.
According to the actress, she suffered an ectopic pregnancy, a condition where the fetus begins growing in the fallopian tube rather than in the womb like it’s supposed to.
Kidman said during her chat with Talter, “there’s a huge, aching yearning. I know the yearning.” Suffering a miscarriage is actually fairly common among women, however, it’s one of those issues which are typically swept under the rug and never discussed again.
“That’s massive grief to women,” the actress claimed. Even though they tried to have kids again, she had a miscarriage for the second time around the same time they filed for divorce in 2001. This isn’t the first time Kidman has talked about her child-rearing difficulties.
Previously, during a chat with Marie Claire, Kidman said she always wanted to have babies with Tom, but it just didn’t work out that way. She and Cruise lost their baby early on, and that is what inspired them to adopt a child.
Kidman and Cruise currently share two adopted children, Isabella, and Connor, who are 25-years-old and 22-years-old respectively. As you may know, following her divorce from the Mission: Impossible star, Kidman got married to Keith Urban in 2006.
Kidman said she “was a baby” when she married Tom, and that played a role in their separation too. However, out of respect for her current husband, she no longer likes to talk about it that much.
Kidman and Urban, who are both 50-years-old, share two daughters, Sunday, and Faith, 9, and 7, respectively. As for Tom, he married Katie Holmes in 2006 but then divorced six years later in 2012.
