Nicki Minaj is continuing to dominate the music and entertainment business; with a number of different musical collaborations; an appearence on Stephen Colbert’s show, as well as gracing several magazines.
Nicki, however, still isn’t immune to the difficulties that some women face; the star says she feels as though some people don’t respect her as they should.
During a Beats 1 interview on Apple Music, the star revealed that people often treat her as an inanimate object, as if she’s a “Barbie doll” who isn’t allowed to speak up for herself.
She said to the host, “even people who don’t like me, they treat me like I’m a Barbie.” In her view, she is the victim of a double standard, where people can say whatever they want about her character as well as her body, but when she responds, she’s supposed to be above that.
Admittedly, she’s a person like everyone else, and similar to other individuals, she feels emotional at times. Minaj has broken down a couple of times during interviews, and some of her breakups have been challenging.
According to Minaj, breakups feel “like mourning;” they’re challenging to work through. Moreover, the rapper states the rumors revolving around her and Cardi B are played out; she’s sick of dealing with them.
When the reporter asked her about her supposed feud with the “Bodak Yellow” artist, Nicki said, “give me a f*cking break,” and explained that people are always gossiping about her, meanwhile, she doesn’t even know Cardi B, and they have no bad blood at all.
“You can’t expect to be liked and loved all the time,” the rapper remarked. Even though Cardi has been dominating the female side of the rap game these days, old school fans of Nicki think she’s still on top.
