Today, Nicki Minaj shared the news that her upcoming album, Queen, was pushed a week later than initially planned and now people have some theories as to why that is. Trolls took to social media to suggest that Minaj decided on delaying the release of her first studio album in four years in order to compete with none other than Ariana Grande as August 17 is also the day the God Is a Woman singer is set to drop her own album, Sweetener.
As you may be aware, the two women are actually pretty close friends, and they have collabed on songs before, including this years, on both Bed and The Light Is Coming.
Soon after the rumors that they planned their albums’ release to be on the same day in order to compete for top spots on charts started going around, both women had something to say.
Ariana in particular was very offended by that speculation.
‘Me n nicki laughed at dat,’ Grande tweeted.
Nicki was quick to respond to her post, writing: ‘I love this woman. Can’t wait for the fans to benefit from all the hard work on both ends. We love your passion. You guys will be VERY happy. Trust. That’s all I’ll say.’
As for the haters’ assumptions, Ariana also tweeted: ‘Jesus is this what’s going on today? imma jus stop logging in at all lmfao. that’s my f–kng sister. she’s clearing a sample. buy and stream queen and sweetener aug 17 bye. these numbers do not mean as much to the artist as they do to y’all. just want y’all to listen to the project.’
