The Real Housewives marriage curse strikes again. Weeks into filming Season 13, Real Housewives of Orange County newbie Gina Kirschenheiter split from her husband after seven years of marriage, making her yet another cast member who’s gone through a recent divorce.
Kirschenheiter filed divorce papers at the beginning of April. The reality star noted “irreconcilable differences” on the paperwork, which was filed at the Orange County Superior Court. Kirschenheiter and her ex-husband, Matthew Kirschenheiter, exchanged vows back in 2010 and share three kids: Nicholas, Sienna, and Luca.
According to Radar Online, Kirschenheiter is seeking sole custody of the kids but wants her former husband to have partial legal custody. The RHOC star also declined the need for spousal support and instead wants support for being a domestic partner. Kirschenheiter and her husband are going to work out the financial aspects of their divorce at a later time.
Although divorce is never easy, it looks like Kirschenheiter and her ex are on good terms. This past Father’s Day, Kirschenheiter shared a photo of Matthew spending time with their kids. “IT was a great day celebrating the dad that made me a mom 3xs over,” she wrote alongside the pic. “We love you!”
Season 13 of RHOC is Kirschenheiter’s first. She joins the show after the departures of Meghan King Edmonds, Peggy Sulahian and Lydia McLaughlin last season. Aside from Kirschenheiter, the rest of the cast includes Shannon Beador, Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge and Kelly Dodd. Given how the divorce happened midway through filming, there is a good chance it will make it onto the show this season.
With the premiere only a week away, producers just released a new teaser trailer for upcoming season. Although a few of the ladies finally made amends at the end of Season 12, the trailer promises that all friendships are off as the lines of loyalty vanish in the face of drama. In particular, fans can expect to see Gunvalson’s friendship with Dodd disappear after a double date goes horribly wrong.
Apart from Kirschenheiter, the new season will also welcome Emily Simpson to the cast. Simpson is originally from Ohio and makes a living practicing law and planning parties. She has a total of five kids, two from a previous marriage, and sees herself as a hard-working individual.
Watch Gina Kirschenheiter when Season 13 of the Real Housewives of Orange County premieres July 16 on Bravo.
