The head of NBC News, Andy Lack, might be looking for a new job in the near future. Lack has been criticized for how he handled Matt Lauer’s sexual assault scandal and the hiring of former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly — and his bosses believe it’s time for a change. Will Lack get fired before the year is out?
Lack faced heavy backlash in the wake of disgraced Today host Matt Lauer’s sexual misconduct scandal. Lack was head of NBC News while Lauer was still a host on Today, and many people felt like he should have been held responsible in some way for what happened.

He also signed Megyn Kelley to a $20 million contract after she left Fox News, a move many thought was a huge mistake. So far, Kelley has failed to live up to Lack’s expectations, and her segment on Today is not attracting the viewers Lack had hoped.
With NBC lagging behind ABC’s Good Morning America, an inside source told Page Six that network executives are considering firing Lack and taking NBC in a new direction. The insider claims that NBC wants to create a new identity and get back its former glory.
Executives also want to make a move before a new documentary about Lack’s career gets released. They hope firing Lack will help soften the blow of whatever the documentary uncovers.
A spokesperson for the network, however, shut down the rumors, calling them “absurd.” If Lack gets the boot, it is possible that James Goldston, the president of ABC News, could land the open position.
Page Six says the head of NBC News, Andy Lack, could be on his way out. Lack has come under fire for the Matt Lauer scandal and letting Ronan Farrow take his Weinstein article to The New Yorker.

That said, sources claim that Goldston plans on staying put, especially since his contract with the network is still in its first year.
“The big question is who could take over — or who would want — Andy’s job?” the insider dished. “#MeToo has basically seen everyone off.”
Andy Lack has not commented on the rumors his reign at NBC could be coming to an end.
