Mo’Nique has never stopped talking about the fact she may have been blackballed by her cohorts in Hollywood. Thankfully, due to recent events, the Academy Award winner was able to change the topic for once to something a little more relevant to today’s day and age.
While, for the most part, Mo’Nique’s fans have had her back on Twitter, a few missteps on Mo’Nique’s part and suddenly she might not have their support anymore.
And it looks like that is what just happened. Mo’Nique defended Roseanne Barr and the racist tweets that she made last month, and #BlackTwitter took her to the task.
In case you missed it, Roseanne tweeted that Valerie Jarett was a mixture of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet Of The Apes at the beginning of June, last month.
The fallout from Hollywood was swift, when the CEO of ABC, Channing Dungey, had her show canceled within hours, and Roseanne subsequently faced widespread condemnation by her peers in Hollywood.
Mo’Nique expressed her willingness to give Roseanne a chance after she lost everything, writing on her social media, “you have a friend in me.” And there’s a reason for why she chose to defend Roseanne, which you can check out in a video below:
According to Mo’Nique, Roseanne Barr is not really a racist, and once came out in support for her when a lot of people weren’t willing to lend their support.
The actress claimed that there was a black superstar who wanted to go on The Mo’Nique Show, but their white representatives said the series was “too black,” so she wouldn’t be able to go on.
However, because of Roseanne, the executives were willing to give Mo’Nique a chance, and the Roseanne alum defended her. In reference to Barr’s tweeting scandal, Mo’Nique explained that she believes Roseanne said something she shouldn’t have.
As it was previously reported, Barr came out recently and explained that she thought Valerie was white the entire time.
