The star added that she is incredibly thankful for her fans and all of their loving support over the years, but she’s decided to “move on” to the next chapter of her life.
Sources close to the actress explained to us: “Monica doesn’t want to be on the show for any longer for fear of being type-casted. After a certain amount of time, it’s hard to escape from being in a particular kind of show or movie.”

The end of the sixth season featured Dawson taking a job in Puerto Rico, leaving many of her fans to wonder if she’d be coming back to the set.
After the last episode, Us Weekly had a chat with Jesse Spencer, who plays Matt Casey, and said he’d like to see his character as a bachelor.
The actor went on to say it’s kind of tragic to see the end of the relationship, but what’s done is done, and both of them have to move on.
When speaking about the future of her career, the insider explained, “it was the right decision for her to get out of there. Six years is a long time to be on a show.”
