Mischa Barton has been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital for a mental health evaluation after a bizarre incident that took place at her apartment on Thursday. Authorities were called to Barton’s Hollywood mansion after a neighbor spotted her hanging on the fence in her backyard and screaming at the wind. According to the person, Miss Barton was heard mumbling something about “Ziggy Stardust,” which is a song by David Bowie. The classic tune focuses on Bowie’s alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, a rock star, who acts as a messenger for aliens from out of space.
The “Mining for Ruby” actress also said that the end of the world was near. At some point, she fell backward off the fence and yelled, “Oh, my God, it’s over! I feel it, and it’s angry!” Several pictures have surfaced online showing the 31-year-old actress was wearing only a shirt, tie, and no pants. She also said some strange things about her mother. The “Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain” star called Nuala Barton a witch.
The person, who dialed 911, said that he believed that Mischa Barto could have harmed herself or was having an overdose. It is worth noting that around Christmas in 2007, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and driving without a valid license.
This is not the first time that Barton has had a mental breakdown and needed help. In July 2009, she was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold, also known as “5150” by the LAPD. The “American Beach House” star went crazy after having a fight with a dentist who wanted to give her drugs to treat a tooth infection.
Barton spoke to the media after the incident and said that she felt that she was being held at Cedars-Sinai Medial Center against her will. She said at the time: “If they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they can hold you on a 5150. I am terrified of needles and they wanted to pump me full of drugs and I said, No, absolutely not. I don’t want to be here, and got into a fight with the nurses, and that led to my 5150.”
In 2016, she had a very public fight with her mother who was apparently delaying the sale of the $7 million Beverly Hills mansion they co-own.
