After weeks of speculation about a split, Miranda Lambert and Anderson East have officially ended their two-year romance. After she divorced Blake Shelton back in 2015, fans were hoping that Lambert had moved on and found a new great love in her life. But, it wasn’t meant to be, and now Lambert is pouring herself into her music. So, what went wrong that caused Lambert and East to call it quits?
According to In Touch Weekly, the couple “grew apart” while on separate tours, but Lambert didn’t see the break-up coming.
East revealed in an interview just this past January that it is always difficult to be a traveling musician and keep things together. He said that understanding was a big factor – and he and Lambert had true admiration and understanding on both sides.
But, apparently, it just wasn’t enough. The two are no longer following each other on Instagram, and cameras haven’t captured the two of them together since the CMA awards last November.
It was after that event that they both criticized Garth Brooks for lip-syncing. East took to Instagram to voice his displeasure, writing that he was offended and adding, “I was told country music is three chords and the truth.”
Lambert agreed with him in the comments, writing, “High five on this, babe.”
While they were together, the couple stayed relatively quiet about their relationship, but they would occasionally give fans a glimpse into their life together.
Rumors of a relationship between the R&B singer and the country superstar started in December 2015 when his dad confirmed that the two had been dating for a couple of weeks. Then, in January 2016, they both posted the same picture to Instagram of them snuggling under a fleece coat with the caption, “The snuggle is real.”
They later made their red-carpet debut in April 2016 at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and then that summer, Lambert brought East onto the stage at a show in Maine for a cover of Kris Kristofferson’s hit Me and Bobby McGee.
Every once in a while, the two would write supportive messages to each other on Instagram. East congratulated Lambert for her 2017 Vocalist of the Year win at the ACM awards, and she thanked her “sweet, handsome” date for being so kind.
On his birthday, Lambert would always give a shout out to her “favorite ‘Bama boy,” but that was all the two shared with fans on social media.
Despite the split, Lambert is not wallowing in self-pity. Instead, she is writing new music and preparing for her upcoming tour with Little Big Town this summer.
A source says that Miranda Lambert will not sit around and feel sorry for herself.
