We all remember when Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino tried to fight Ronnie Magro and ended up ramming his head into the wall causing a nasty neck injury. Although it was great TV, it represents one of the worst times of his life. The reality star was on drugs when he pulled the stunt and pretty much the entire time he was on “Jersey Shore.”
Now, the soon-to-be husband is celebrating 33 months of sobriety. He took to social media to talk about the huge milestone.
Mike uploaded a photo of himself in a neck brace and then down on one knee in an Instagram post that read: “33 Months Clean & Sober #cleanchallenge Went from Running into a Wall to Down on One Knee . We do recover ?? @discovery_institutenj.”
His fiance, Lauren Pesce, was there through it all which makes their love story even more romantic.
Sorrentino was heavily addicted to painkillers which caused him to display erratic behavior that often got him into trouble in the house. He ended up completing two stints in rehab and has been drug and alcohol-free since then.
Mike told People Magazine: “I worked so hard to turn my life around and be the best person I can be. I did it, and good things came around. I’ve done everything in my power to better myself. I really feel that I’m in the best situation possible.”
In fact, Sorrentino was sober during his stay in the Miami mansion in the latest season of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation.”
“I had a very strong foundation for my recovery with over two years when I entered the house. But I did have to challenge myself to go out and film a whole season of ‘Jersey Shore’ and have fun without alcohol — to show the youth out there that it is possible.”
Congratulations to The Situation on his huge accomplishment!
