Mike Myers, famous for Austin Powers and Shrek, has reportedly sold his penthouse in New York City. According to a report from Trulia, Mike sold his massive house in New York’s SoHo neighborhood for $13.95 million.
It makes sense that the celebrity sold the home, because he purchased it in 2007 for $8 million, generating a $4 million profit. The publication reports that the house is entirely unlike his persona on the movie screen, in the sense that he often portrays funny characters, but the style of this house is no laughing matter.
The house has the “perfect mix of modern and historic” sensibilities with white oak floors as well as extensively high ceilings. In addition to its charming decor, it features beautiful views of the city, in quite possibly one of the most expensive cities to live in the world.
This is perhaps the first time we’ve heard of Mike Myers in the news recently, as the Austin Powers alum likes to keep his name out of the celebrity tabloids. Since his disastrous film, The Love Guru, Mike hasn’t been on the tips of many peoples’ tongues. However, he probably likes it like that.
Myers almost never speaks to journalists and has only made an appearance in two different films since his role in Shrek. Fans will remember seeing Mike briefly in the Quentin Tarantino-directed film, Inglorious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt.
Despite his ability to lay relative low, Mike did write a memoir detailing his thoughts on his native country, Canada. Mike said he had a long relationship with the nation, in fact, it was 53-years-long
According to a report from CBC, Mike’s memoir on Canada wasn’t up to par, as it featured “Wikipedia-quality” summaries of historical moments in Canadian history.
The reviewer stated the transitions between personal and informative moments are crude and poorly executed. Regardless of a quality memoir or not, after making a $4 million profit, Mike is undoubtedly doing well.
