Michelle Obama surprised some of her admirers on the ‘Tonight Show’ Wednesday night, hiding behind a curtain while they recorded goodbye messages for her.
The soon-to-be former first lady was the featured guest on the late night talk show which saw her take center stage for the whole episode.
Faced with a portrait of Michelle Obama, Americans were invited to say goodbyes to the First Lady. Many thanked her for what she represents and for the strong messages she was able to convey over the past eight years.
At the end of their message, Michelle Obama emerges from behind a curtain where she warmly thanks her fans for all the touching compliments. Some laugh while others burst into tears.
“This was not what I was expecting,” one teary eyed woman as Michelle appeared. “I was eating pizza bites yesterday in my bed, and now I’m meeting the First Lady.”
Obama also got emotional.
“Thanks to you, I know that my skin color does not define what I am or what I can accomplish. For years you have shown our nation that with dignity, compassion and respect, we can overcome any difficulty,” said an emotional Obama.
Another highlight of the night was when comedians Jerry Seinfeld and Dave Chapelle joined host Jimmy Fallon and Obama for a game of Catchphrase,
To top it all off, Stevie Wonder serenaded Obama with a medley of “Isn’t She Lovely” and “My Cherie Amour.”
After eight years in the White House, the First Lady of the United States still has it. We only hope Melinda Trump will have as much style and charisma.
