Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack’s co-star in Smallville, sat down with Theo Von recently for his This Past Weekend podcast, where he dished on the “sex cult” accusations against Allison.
As it was previously reported by a number of different publications, Allison faces charges of being involved in a sex cult with NXIVM.
When Michael spoke with Theo Von, he said the entire ordeal for him was “shocking,” and never expected it to happen at all. Michael stated that when he was on Smallville, Mack was the “sweetest” and most “professional” girl.
However, Rosenbaum admitted that he did recall her being involved with some self-help groups, thinking to himself that it did sound a bit “culty.” While he thought it sounded more like a cult, he never gave it more thought than that.
“I just didn’t believe it,” the actor remarked. There are things in life – the actor stated – that a person can’t answer for.
Even though they worked together for a long time, Rosenbaum claims he never really knew her, because there was a significant age gap between them. In the podcast, Michael said he was 25 or 26-years-old and Allison was 18-years-old at the time.
Later in the same podcast, Michael said actors and actresses are typically the types of people who like attention and need to get it for approval, especially due to the nature of the auditioning process. Unfortunately, when people are vulnerable, they find themselves involved in things much bigger than themselves.
In April, the police charged Mack with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy. However, she pleaded not guilty to all three counts during her first court appearence and arraignment.
In the same month, the judge released Allison on a $5 million bail, but she’s now looking at new charges. In July, the police charged her again with racketeering conspiracy which included another list of transgressions.
And in June, NXIVM announced they would be suspending their operations permanently. The self-help company said they “firmly oppose” abuse and all forms of violence.
