Just weeks before the 2016 Presidential election, one of the biggest scandals surrounding then-candidate Donald Trump had to do with a tape from an Access Hollywood interview. Now, in his new book, journalist Bob Woodward claims that First Lady Melania Trump refused to help her husband make the scandal go away.
In the controversial audio tape, Mr. Trump made vulgar comments about women while talking with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. According to Woodward, Melania was so angry about the tape that she refused to do any interviews.
In his new book Fear: Trump In the White House, Woodward writes that the Trump campaign scrambled to find a solution to the scandal, and they were afraid that the leaked audio had ruined Trump’s bid for the White House.

Woodward also claims that it was Kellyanne Conway who had the idea that Trump should sit down with 60 Minutes for an on-camera interview with Melania and his daughter, Ivanka, by his side.
“Melania Trump had come down and wandered behind the sofa where Conway was proposing they sit,” Woodward wrote. “It was clear she was seething.”
The FLOTUS then “dismissively” waived her hand in the air and said that she was “not doing that. No way. No, no, no.”
Woodward also says that Trump’s former chief of staff, Reince Priebus, encouraged him to drop out of the race once the story went viral. Priebus allegedly told Mr. Trump that he needed to “drop out right now” or he would be humiliated for life because he would lose in the biggest landslide in American history.
Woodward — who in 1972 broke the Watergate story with Carl Bernstein — also wrote in his new book that President Trump once advised a man that if he ever faced accusations of bad behavior towards women, he should “deny, deny, deny.”

Mrs. Trump has remained rather quiet while serving as First Lady, but many would like to hear more from her.
A private investigator named Justin Hopson put out a book this summer called If The First Lady Hired Me which imagines how he would investigate the President if Melania hired him to confirm alleged infidelities.
According to Page Six, there are chapters called “Melania, we need to talk,” and “Donald Trump red-handed.”
Hopson is a former New Jersey State Trooper, and he says that a copy of the book has made its way to the East Wing of the White House.
Melania Trump has not commented on the latest rounds of rumors.
