Melania Trump was the belle at the inauguration ball thanks to a stunning dress by Monique Lhuillier/Hervé Pierre. Mr. and Mrs. Trump arrived at the Liberty Ball at the Washington Convention Center, just minutes ago, and the crowd was in awe. The 46-year-old looked flawless in the off-shoulder ivory gown – which could have been a wedding dress. The dress, which was designed by Hervé Pierre, featured several intricate details including a red belt and a structured six-ply crepe that went down from one shoulder to the knee.
The stunning creation featured a high slit that exposed Melania Trump’s lean and toned legs. Melania, who wore a blue Ralph Lauren dress and a chic updo earlier in the day, decided to let her long brown hair flow over her shoulders.
Hervé Pierre was quick to issue a statement saying that Melania collaborated with him on the gown. Pierre stated that the former model knew exactly what she wanted and she was a delight to work with.
The designer revealed: “It’s an honor to dress the First Lady. I was actually lucky because over my 20 years in the U.S., I dressed all the first ladies: Mrs. Clinton at Oscar [de la Renta], Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Obama at Carolina Herrera. So I feel lucky and honored to dress Melania Trump, but this time under my name.”
He added: “It was an amazing experience!. She knows what she likes. Our conversations were, and are, very easy. She knows about fashion, as a former model. She is aware about constructions, so we have already the same vocabulary when it comes to designing a dress.”
Many are already comparing Mrs. Trump to Jackie Kennedy. The president wore a black tuxedo, walked the First Lady to dance, and took a few steps on Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” before he started singing and giving thumbs-ups.
He rapidly invited Mike Pence and his wife, Karen to dance. The foursome was later joined by the Trump clan, which included Tiffany, her boyfriend, Ross Mechanic, Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, Eric, his wife, Lara, and Donald Jr. and his wife, Vanessa.
