Melania Trump made a fashion faux-pas during a meeting with immigrant children at the Texas border on the 21st of June, Thursday. The 48-year-old First Lady and wife of Donald Trump wore a jacket with the words, “I Really Don’t Care, Do You?” written across the back.
There’s no doubt that it was a poor choice of attire, whether or not she intended to offend or not. Melania might’ve worn the worst possible jacket imaginable in the aftermath of the migrant children scandal whereby ICE separated over two thousand children from their parents at the US-Mexico border.
Since Melania wore the $39 olive-colored jacket from the Spanish retailer, Zara, it has since sold out. People on Twitter eviscerated Melania for her fashion choice, with one person writing, “This is not a joke, I am actually speechless.”
Our beautiful Melania ❤️❤️❤️ wears @zara jacket with 'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' scrawled across the back as she boards a plane to visit immigrant children being held at the Texas border. #melaniatrump #donaldtrump #firstlady #texas #firstlady #zara #adidassuperstar #white #maga #history #beautiful #inside #outside #voguemagazine
One of the hosts of MSNBC, Chris Hayes, tweeted out, “wait, wait, wait, I just got wifi to work on my flight.” Chris said that it “can’t be real” and he chose not to believe it.
In response to the social media outrage, Trump’s press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, said to Us Weekly, “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message.”
Grisham compared the current situation to the one last year when the media criticized her for wearing high heels to the Hurricane Harvey survivors in Texas, in August 2017.
?•?•?:Andrew Harnik/AP/Shutterstock
Others came out in defense of the First Lady, writing that it’s “just a jacket,” and to be upset over it is frivolous and sensational.
As you may know, this comes just one day after Donald Trump signed an executive order to end his administration’s immigration policy that led to the separation of children with their parents at the border.
Melania said during a roundtable discussion on Thursday that she would help those in need to reunite with their children as quickly as possible. This is just one of many scandals to hit Trump’s administration recently.
