A Florida man named Cesar Sayoc has been arrested for sending at least 12 suspicious packages to some of President Donald Trump’s critics.
Sayoc, who is a strong supporter of Mr. Trump, was apprehended by authorities while at an auto parts store in Plantation, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
According to the FBI, the criminal, who also goes by the name Cesar Altieri Sayoc, mailed suspicious packages containing explosive devices to CNN’s headquarters in New York City.
Sayoc also targeted high-profile Democratic politicians and liberal personalities including former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, California’s Rep. Maxine Waters, and former CIA Director John Brennan.
On Facebook, Sayoc shared photos of his van that features pictures of Trump.
He posted videos where he was cheering Trump at a rally. Via social media, Sayoc expressed his hatred of Hillary Clinton. Local media confirmed that he is a registered Republican.
While talking at the 2018 Young Black Leadership Summit at the White House, Trump reacted to Sayoc’s arrest by saying: “These events are despicable and have no place in our great country, no place. We must never allow political violence to take root in America. We cannot let it happen. We are committed to doing everything to stop it.”
He added: “We will prosecute them, him, her, whoever it may be, to the fullest extent of the law.”
Trump’s positive message in front of the camera comes after another Twitter rant at 3 a.m. where he claimed that those suspicious packages were an attempt to slow Republicans’ early voting in order to sabotage the midterm elections.
Trump tweeted: “Republicans are doing so well in early voting, and at the polls, and now this ‘Bomb’ stuff happens, and the momentum greatly slows – news not talking politics. Very unfortunate, what is going on. Republicans, go out and vote!”

He also bashed CNN: “Funny how lowly rated CNN, and others can criticize me at will, even blaming me for the current spate of Bombs and ridiculously comparing this to September 11th and the Oklahoma City bombing. Yet when I criticize them, they go wild and scream, ‘it’s just not Presidential!’”
All suspicious items containing explosive devices had a return address to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s office in Sunrise, Florida.
The controversial Florida congresswoman said that no one “should be treating our opponents like they are the enemy,” after the arrest was made.
She went on to add: “An attack on any one of us, the use or potential use of any of us that are serving the public or anyone for that matter, to attempt to harm people, it is horrific and not something that we will tolerate.”
Trump has indicated that he will not be doing things differently despite First Lady Melania Trump’s call for civility via the #BeBest campaign.
