Meghan McCain slammed Donald Trump at her father Sen. John McCain’s funeral, and while some people, including the president, were bothered by it, Senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham have decided to come to her defense.
As you may be aware, the relationship of the Donald with the late McCain has never been great, and until the end, the commander in chief refused to call him a war hero.
As a result, The View co-star couldn’t help but diss him in her eulogy for his pettiness.
On CNN’s State of the Union yesterday, two of John McCain’s close friends, Sen. Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham talked about both Ivanka Trump and her husband attending the service and Meghan’s speech.
‘She’s a beautiful, talented young lady; she is her father’s daughter. If you say something about her dad you will know it, whether you’re the janitor or the president of the United States,’ Graham argued.
‘She is grieving over the father she adored, and I believe most Americans understand that and I’m just so proud of the young lady she’s become. So I am totally OK with everything,’ the man added.
Lieberman agreed completely, saying that ‘Yesterday, I was a very proud uncle. Meghan’s a daughter who had a special, close relationship with her father. So, he’s gone, he has died, she is grieving, and yet by the nature of his life, she is called on to make a very public, global statement and appearance. Very hard. But she did it, and she did it magnificently. She did it the way her father would want her to do it, she was direct, the way John was.’
