Will the new royal family member get the honor of an Emmy nomination for the last time ever? Since Meghan Markle has given up her acting career to become the wife of Prince Harry, this might be her only chance at having her talent in the industry recognized.
We have learned that the Duchess of Sussex is considered for the award after being submitted for Emmy voting.
The category she would be nominated for is Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
As you may be aware, Meghan played Rachel Zane on Suits.
That being said, the chances of being nominated for her last season on the TV show are pretty slim considering how competitive the category is.
Among the actresses vying for a nomination are: This is Us’ Chrissy Metz, Westworld’s Thandie Newton, Alexis Bledel and Ann Dowd from The Handmaid’s Tale, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, the stars of Orange Is the New Black, and Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones.
Even though the royal is now a retired actress, it is not unusual that she is in the mix for an Emmy nomination.
In fact, the USA Network has submitted the cast of Suits every season for the past six years.
However, none of the actors have managed to grab a nomination.
Maybe this is the year one of the stars, if not Markle, will get to be on the list for the prestigious award show.
Up until now, Patrick J. Adams is the only Suits actor who has received recognition at any type of award show, so it’s pretty unlikely.
Back in 2012, he got a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
