Meghan Markle recently paralleled the late Princess Diana with a secret charity visit to the victims of last year’s Grenfell Tower block fire that killed 71 people. Without cameramen or members of the media – just like Diana used to do – Markle visited the Al Manaar community mosque in North Kensington, which is sheltering many of those who escaped the fire.
According to the Daily Beast, the British media eventually found about the visit and leaked it to the newspapers. A team of Prince Harry’s aides and a royal protection officer accompanied Markle during her visit, and one community member said that the future royal’s appearance meant a lot and she has a special place in their hearts.
The Grenfell Tower block blaze was a shocking tragedy that incinerated a public housing complex in the same borough as Kensington Palace, where Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and now Markle reside.
Ever since the romance blossomed between Markle and Prince Harry, media handlers have attempted to position her as a modern Diana, a beautiful outsider with a heart of gold who finds herself in the confines of the royal household. And, their efforts seem to be working.
The Palace confirmed that Markle has participated in many extracurricular activities.
“Ms. Markle has regularly been making private visits to organizations as she gets to know the charity sector,” a spokesman said.
Princess Diana was one of the most successful charity workers in royal history, with a successful campaign against the government use of landmines and helping erode the stigma of HIV in the 1980s and 90s.
Markle herself has a long track record of charity work before her link to the royal family.
Prince Harry will marry Markle at noon local UK time (7 a.m. on the East Coast of the US, 4 a.m. on the West Coast) on May 19th at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Tonight, Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle were honoured to meet wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women who have overcome adversity and taken on remarkable sport and adventure challenges, at the annual #EndeavourAwards The Endeavour Fund gives these people the opportunity to rediscover their self-belief and fighting spirit through physical challenges, and is led by the Royal Foundation. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for their incredible feats.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom will immediately leave the chapel and travel along the main streets of Windsor for a post-wedding parade. Since St. George’s is located inside the walls of the castle, this will be the only opportunity for fans to see the couple since they won’t be able to see their arrival.
After the parade, they will then return to St. George’s Hall to meet with their guests, and Prince Charles will host a second reception for close family and friends. Before the wedding date arrives, Meghan Markle will be baptized and confirmed into the Church of England.
