There are strict rules when it comes to being a member of the Royal family, and they not only cover behavior (like not being able to sign autographs), but they also involve appearance. Kate Middleton is a fashion trendsetter but also follows royal tradition, so there is one thing you will never see her wear: red nail polish. Is Meghan Markle following the Duchess of Cambridge’s lead and avoiding the bold nail color?
According to Marie Claire UK, the royals are only allowed to wear natural looking nails when they appear at official events. Of course, that is where Middleton gets photographed, so we never see her nails in anything but a natural shade.
Her classic, yet modern style always follows royal tradition. She may change her hairstyle with each pregnancy, and love off the shoulder dresses, but her manicure will always look natural.
The same goes for Queen Elizabeth, who has been wearing the same shade of polish, Essie’s Ballet Slippers, for nearly thirty years. Per the IBT, the brand claims, “It’s the only color the majesty will wear.”
As every woman knows, when you find something that looks good on you, you go with it, especially when it is a great deal. The Queen’s favorite polish only costs $11.

Middleton took inspiration from the Queen on her wedding day when she wore a similar sheer pink shade. Marina Sandoval, Middleton’s manicurist, told back in 2011 that she created the custom color by mixing Bourjois Rose Lounge and Essie Allure.
Sandoval did apply the color to the Duchess’ nails before she walked down the aisle, but the style icon took makeup lessons, so she could apply that herself.
Now, it seems that Meghan Markle is already following the royal traditions before she is a member of the family. During her recent appearance with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto, the actress sported a natural sheer pinkish-white shade.
Some speculate that this is just another clue that the Suits actress and the world’s most eligible bachelor will soon be announcing their engagement.
