Meghan Markle appeared at her first solo royal engagement this week, and then she jetted off to Amsterdam with her husband, Prince Harry. The newlyweds were in the Dutch capital for the launch of luxury hotel chain Soho House’s newest location.
Other stars on the invite list included Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw, rapper Tinie Tempah, and Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne. An insider says that Harry and Meghan “attended two boozy private parties” with Nick Jones, the Soho House boss.
“On the Friday night it was more of a loose party, and Prince Harry and Meghan were circulating with everyone,” the source said. “They were side by side throughout the night and sat on the top table with Jones. As the evening wore on, I think more people became emboldened to go up and talk to her. She behaved beautifully. There was lots of drinking — it was a proper party.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex take part in a netball shootout during their visit to Loughborough University to celebrate the achievements of this year’s Coach Core graduates. Established by The Royal Foundation in 2012, Coach Core harnesses the power of sport and its ability to change lives and empower young people. The scheme trains hundreds of 16-24 year olds to be sport coaches.
According to The Star, Grimshaw posted some video footage from the night, and it seemed to back up the insider’s claims that the booze was flowing. In one clip, fashion designer Henry Holland is sipping a cocktail through a “straw” that is actually the stalk of a chili pepper, while loud music plays in the background.
The party didn’t end until around 5 a.m., but Meghan and Harry reportedly left “long before” then.
The weekend also included a tour of the red-light district, but the Royal couple did not take part in that. And, guests also enjoyed a lavish boat trip, which TV host Richard Bacon shared pics of on social media. For security reasons, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose not to join the boat ride because “they didn’t want to be photographed from the see-through roofs.”
During the Saturday night dinner, Harry and Meghan stayed in a separate area while the other guests continued to drink and socialize with friends. The couple did take the time to chat with Redmayne, Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan, and Riot Club star Douglas Booth.
Markle has made a ton of headlines recently for a variety of different reasons. The former Suits actress caused a stir when she appeared to have lost her American accent. In the ITV documentary Queen of the World, she talked with a slight British accent.
