It seems that Meek Mill’s lawyer renewed the call for the Philly judge who sentenced the singer to step aside. The lawyer said that there was an FBI investigation into his gun and drug case and her conduct.
Meek’s legal team wrote in a court filing that he and all his reps were aware of the investigation into judge G. Brinkley’s conduct since 2016.
The lawyers explained that the existence of a probe naturally raises a few questions regarding the judge’s ability to impartially preside over Meek’s case.
‘How could she sit in judgment? She can’t,’ stated Meek’s attorney Joe Tacopina. He also did not want to answer any of the questions about the defense’s new claim.
A spokeswoman for the FBI didn’t confirm or deny all these investigations.
Just a few days ago, the Philly judge denied a request to free Meek and slammed him as ‘a danger to the community.’
Meek was sentenced last month to two to four years in prison for violating probation on a gun and drug case dating back ten years ago.
This ruling came after both a prosecutor and a probation officer recommended that he should not go to jail.
The singer’s sentence was not received very well by the celebrities in the music world and not only. The are tons of legal filings asking for him to be freed and for the judge to recuse herself.
The appeals claim that the Philly judge has made the case personal and that she ‘stepped out of the proper judicial role’ when she visited a site where Mill was doing community service. We just have to wait some more time and see what happens to Meek, but our fingers are crossed for the singer!
