As it was previously reported, Demi Lovato supposedly overdosed on heroin earlier today and had to go to the hospital to receive treatment. According to reports from TMZ.com, the 25-year-old singer had to be transported by ambulance from her home in Hollywood Hills.
Reportedly, law enforcement sources claim that Demi had to be given Narcan, a pharmaceutical typically used for overdoses.
They had to administer the drug while she was at home, rather than in the hospital, because of the severity of the situation.
This comes just after the 25-year-old insinuated she had relapsed with the release of her new song, “Sober.” In the track, Demi revealed her will to stay away from drugs had collapsed after six years of sobriety.
As fans of the singer know, Demi has been more than candid when it comes to her struggles with substance abuse. Lovato has spoken with many journalists about what it was like to deal with drug problems.
Previously, she claimed that her father actually struggled with drug abuse as well and that she always used to wonder why he chose to do drugs rather than take care of his family.
In one interview, the “Sorry, Not Sorry,” singer said that she would do drugs and talk about sobriety with journalists while high. Regardless of her inconsistencies, there’s been an outpouring of support for Demi.
One fan wrote, “I really hope you know that we all love you, and you’re so brave for being strong about your problems.”
Another person added, “My father died from a drug overdose when I was 11-years-old, so I can relate to your problems. I think you’re strong enough to make it through this.”
