In a classic case of “I told you so,” former NBC Today Show anchor Ann Curry says in a new interview that she warned the network about Matt Lauer six years before they fired him for sexual misconduct in the workplace. Did NBC ignore Curry’s warning about Lauer and fire her instead?
The 61-year-old says that back in 2012, a female staffer came to her crying and told her that Lauer had physically and sexually harassed her. Curry immediately went to executives and told them to watch out for Lauer and monitor his behavior towards women.
“She was afraid of losing her job… I believed her,” Curry said. “I told management they had a problem and they needed to keep an eye on him and how he deals with women.”

However, Radar Online is reporting that NBC claims there is no record of Curry’s warning, but she assured The Washington Post in her interview that there was “pervasive verbal sexual harassment” going on at the network.
That same year, NBC ended up mysteriously firing Curry after she had worked there for 15 years, and to this day many believe it was because of Lauer.
Last November, after Lauer lost his job because multiple women claimed he sexually harassed them, Curry said she had to “check herself” instead of celebrating because she knew women had suffered.
Five months after his termination, the disgraced former anchor has finally spoken out about the allegations against him, and he says that many of the stories that have come out since he left The Today Show have been false or biased. But, he decided to stay quiet to protect his family from further embarrassment and to restore some privacy.
But, now it has gotten to the point that Lauer feels he needs to say something.
“Defending my family now requires me to speak up. I fully acknowledge that I acted inappropriately as a husband, father, and principal at NBC,” said Lauer.
He went on to claim that any allegations of abusive or agressive behavior are false.

In his initial statement after NBC fired him, Lauer said that there was enough truth in the allegations against him that he felt ashamed. He decided to stay out of the spotlight and focus on his family and attempt to fix his marriage.
But, his wife Annette Roque has reportedly been talking to divorce lawyers, and Lauer is no longer living at the family home in the Hamptons. Instead, he is staying on a different property. He also put his Manhattan apartment on the market earlier this month.
Matt Lauer has kept in touch with some of his former co-workers, including Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, but instead of trying to revive his career, they say his top priority is his family.
