After losing his job amid a shocking sexual misconduct scandal, former NBC Today Show host Matt Lauer is now worried he will lose his 19-year marriage, too. Lauer has been spending time with his wife, Annette Roque, and their three children at their home in Sag Harbor, New York, in an effort to save their relationship. Can Lauer convince Roque to give him another chance?
According to Closer Weekly, Lauer is begging his wife not to leave him and trying to convince her that the events of recent weeks could make them stronger. He is making Roque promises and saying all the right things, but she is still conflicted about the marriage.
The 60-year-old’s fears that his marriage could be coming to an end aren’t baseless since cameras caught Roque meeting with divorce lawyers after NBC announced they fired her husband due to sexual harassment allegations.

Page Six is reporting that the former Dutch model previously filed for divorce once before in 2006, citing mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, and humiliation. However, a few weeks later she withdrew her filing after Lauer offered her a post-nuptial agreement worth millions.
But, Roque is expected to challenge the post-nup if they divorce because of her husband’s earnings over the past twelve years, plus the fact that he humiliated her publicly. There are also issues over the property the couple owns, both in the Hamptons and abroad.
Lauer and Roque have had trouble for years in their marriage, and it was no secret to his colleagues at NBC. Apparently, everyone knew he regularly cheated on his wife. However, no one ever heard of him making unwanted moves on women.
“Everyone on staff knew he cheated regularly on his wife. That wasn’t a secret, but sexual [misconduct] is a shock. He was friendly and approachable with everyone, and was very well-liked,” a former Today show employee told People Magazine.
Lauer and Roque did spend the holidays together despite the fact that cameras have recently caught her without her wedding ring. Per E! News, this – plus her recent visit to the Manhattan law firm Latham & Watkins – has increased speculation that their marriage will soon be coming to an end.
The couple reunited on the Saturday before Christmas, and they later met up with their daughter Romy, 14, at a horse farm in Sag Harbor. The former anchor also spent time with his sons, Jack and Thijs, in the Hamptons.
NBC recently announced that Hoda Kotb will be replacing Lauer on The Today Show with a contract for $7 million a year. Lauer had signed a contract for $25 million a year before he and the network parted ways.
