According to a source, Matt Lauer and his ex-wife, Annette Roque, are very close to finishing their divorce process. In a report from Us Weekly, the publication claims that Matt will be “forking out around $50 million in a settlement.”
Matt and Annette have been married for nineteen years. Roque will get a horse farm, their current residence, as well as a one-time payment of $25 million.
However, she won’t be getting any child or spousal support, and they agreed to split the cost for the children. As you may know, Matt and his estranged spouse have three kids, Jack, Romy, and Thijs, who are 16, 14, and 11, respectively.
An insider who sat down with us explained, “Matt isn’t really pleased about it all, because of all of the commotions which lost him his job, his family, and now he has to spend a lot of his money toward his wife, who now hates him.”
The source said, “but with that said, Matt wants to get it all over with, because he’s sick of this part of his life. He’s been going through a really rough time for a while. It’s about time to close it up for good.”
Moreover, he’s worried that if he fights for it in court, then he’ll continue to be in the media headlines, something which he’s not looking forward to. Most assume that Matt isn’t ready to come back to broadcasting, but one source claims he’s actually considering getting another job on television.
As it was previously reported, Matt lost his career back in November 2017 in the middle of the #MeToo movement. Matt was fired because he supposedly sexually harassed women he worked with, and also had a relationship with one of his colleagues.
An insider who spoke with Us Weekly in January said that Roque had “quietly started the divorce process” following his scandal.
