Matt Lauer is shocked according to a source who spoke with several publications. Following Ann Curry’s statement that she complained about Matt on behalf of another employee, an insider explained that Lauer never expected her to say such things considering their relationship.
According to the insider, “Matt didn’t really foresee her to come out and talk about him like this. He didn’t even know about it, and frankly, Matt doesn’t even understand what he did to this day. He thinks that he is a victim of a public witch hunt.”
Additionally, Jim Bell, who worked as the executive producer, supposedly didn’t know about Ann’s complaints either.
Things haven’t been great for Matt, who is now going through a brutal divorce with his wife, Annette Roque, and his reputation is permanently destroyed.
Another source explained, “I actually feel bad for him, because his actions weren’t even that bad. He just made some weird comments and did inappropriate things. It’s not like he raped or killed anyone.”
In an article published by the Washington Post on the 26th of April, the 61-year-old, Curry, confirmed she had complained to HR on another person’s behalf.
“A woman approached me and asked me tearfully if I could help her. She was afraid of losing her job and I believed her.” Ann claimed she spoke with executives and said they should keep an eye on Matt’s behavior, especially the way he interacts with the opposite sex.
A spokesperson for NBC said in the Post that there is no record on file of Curry’s complaint against him. Moreover, NBC News and the Today Show are under entirely different management.
