Former Today host Matt Lauer is getting closer to settling his messy divorce with Annette Roque. After months of battling it out in court, Lauer might have to dish out millions to his estranged wife — and he isn’t happy about it.
Lauer and Roque were married for 19 years before calling it quits earlier this year. The divorce comes after Lauer was fired from the Today show after years of sexual misconduct. Although the two have decided against paying out spousal and child support, Lauer will lose millions in the divorce.
An inside source told Us Magazine that Lauer will have to pay Roque a lump sum of $25 million to finalize the divorce. He is also going to lose some property, which means Roque will walk away with close to $50 million once everything is said and done. Per the source, Lauer is pretty angry about losing half of his fortune in the divorce.
I hear that Matt Lauer is “furious” that he’ll be paying millions to his wife of 19 years, so I've just written a very formal composition for the tiny violin entitled, "Twelve Variations on Nobody Caring How You Feel in C Major" pic.twitter.com/uNcbbs40g1

“Matt is furious he is essentially handing over half of his net worth to Annette,” the insider dished.
Lauer believes he could get a better deal in the divorce but wants to settle as quickly as possible. Lauer apparently cannot wait to move on with his life and reboot his career in front of the cameras.
But considering Lauer’s history with sexual misconduct, it’s going to take a lot for him to return to television. Even still, Lauer is determined to make a comeback and is willing to do whatever it takes to see it happen.
At the time of Lauer’s scandal, he was making $25 million a year and was one of the most successful TV hosts on the network. This past spring, Lauer tried to sell his apartment in Manhattan and had it listed for over $7 million.
NBC decided to fire Lauer back in November after several women came forward with sexual harassment allegations. Lauer issued an apology after the scandal and came clean about engaging in sexual activity at work.

An inside source claims that Roque started meeting with divorce lawyers as soon as the scandal broke and had no plans of staying with the disgraced TV host.
Lauer and Roque have not commented on their divorce proceedings. The couple share three children together: Jack, 16, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11. This also is not the first time Roque has initiated divorce talks. She filed for divorce several years back but ultimately decided to rescind her petition and make the marriage work.
Matt Lauer has not commented on his impending divorce.
