Matt Damon is a gentleman, that much is for sure. During an appearance on The Daily Show on Wednesday night, the talk show host asked the Good Will Hunting alum what he thought of Affleck’s back tattoo that has social media buzzing over the last few days.
For further background, in the last week, pictures of Ben Affleck on the beach in Hawaii show him on a ski-doo with a gigantic tattoo on his back, one which he claimed was fake in prior interviews.
Now that everyone knows the tattoos are real, fans were curious as to what Matt thinks of them. When talking with the host, Trevor Noah, Damon claimed men should stay out of each other’s business.
It isn’s a “man’s job to tell another man” what he can and can’t do to his body. Damon laughed and said he “supports him” in all of his artistic endeavors, whatever they may be.
Noah said it was “fair,” and Matt’s response is indicative of the strength of their relationship. As fans know, Matt and Ben have known each other for a long time.
Matt joked he had known him for 37 years, and he just can’t seem to shake him.
The very first movie they ever wrote, Good Will Hunting, won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, shooting both actors into the stratosphere of Hollywood performing.
As for Ben’s tattoo, the first time the world got a glimpse of it was back in December of 2015. Matt said it was “fake” for a movie. However, fans pointed out that he never appeared in a film where his body art was on display.
