The legal separation between Mary J Blige and her estranged husband, Kendu Isaacs, may finally be coming to a close. According to reports, the R & B legend along with Kendu will come to a settlement agreement to avoid having the case go to trial.
In a report from Bossip, Blige and Issac’s lawyers plan on going to court next year in January so they can finally put their feud to rest. Reportedly, the conference between their respective attorneys-at-law is obligatory.
However, if neither party can come to an understanding, then the process will head to a trial in March of 2018. Reportedly, Blige may lose a lot to Kendu including several properties, money, and other assets.
According to Kendu, he is unable to find employment because Blige is smearing his reputation in the media. Back in 2016, Mary J Blige filed for divorce after a long marriage of 15 years.
Additionally, Blige accused Kendu of using her money – $400,000 – to pay for his “mistress.” However, despite the fact he may have been cheating, the judge afforded him $30,000 in temporary spousal support.
And while it’s honestly a shame they had to break up, it’s interesting to note that usually, it’s the other way around. Typically, men are the ones who have to pay spousal support. Either way, Blige’s mega-success has proven lucrative for Blige herself but Kendu as well.
Despite her messy separation with her ex, Mary has had some good news recently. In fact, the artist recently took home the Icon Of The Year Award at Billboard’s Women In Music Awards of 2017.
During her acceptance speech, Mary stated she was “so grateful, humbled, and thankful” for the honor. Furthermore, she hopes to use her position as a means to empowering others to make an impact on the world. Blige hopes those in a “difficult” position can make it through the tough times.
