Former star from TOWIE Mark Wright has recently made public the fact that he has been struggling in secret with a terrible issue, the OCD. The presenter, aged 29, has talked about his problem with his mental health on the This Morning show on Monday. He explained that OCD might show up even through things that are apparently insignificant, such as people checking things more than one time or holding on to some routine.
The Strictly star confessed that he is not the only one in his family struggling with this condition that is present more than we would want it, telling the world that his father, Mark Senior, and his sister Jessica have been diagnosed with it.
He says that he has symmetry OCD, which he explained by exemplifying that if he touches one of his legs on one spot, he has to do the same thing with the other leg too. He also told the world about what it was like growing up with a dad and a sister who have OCD and who have little habits and who like to touch things a particular number of times.
But since there’s a silver lining to almost any situation, the Essex star also said that since he is very familiar with this illness, he tried his best to raise awareness about it and to work together with charities, in order to help other people who suffer of the same condition, which is admirable on his part.
The good part is the fact that through these efforts to help other people, he said that he realized that his fight isn’t as hard as he initially thought. He recounted that some people he had met had really serious forms of OCD, so bad that they even though committing suicide was a solution to their problems.
