The man realized how unfair the treatment of women in the movie industry is and decided to take action. Upon finding out that his co-star Michelle Williams earned way less than his $1.5 million for reshoots of All The Money In The World, Mark Wahlberg decided to donate the entirety of his salary to the Time’s Up movement.
‘Over the last days, my reshoot fee for All The Money in the World became a very important topic of conversation. I, a hundred percent support the fight for fair pay, and I am donating the $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams’ name,’ Wahlberg said in an official statement.
Reports revealed that Wahlberg got $1.5 million but Williams, was instead paid no more than $1,000.
That being said, we are not at all surprised that the man was shocked to learn about the huge gap and decided to react by making a difference.
The first one to bring the unfair payment into discussion was none other than Jessica Chastain.
‘I heard for the reshoot she [Michelle Williams] got $80 per day compared to his [Mark Wahlberg’s] MILLIONS. Would anyone like to clarify?’ Chastain tweeted.
‘I hope that with everything coming to light, she was paid fairly. She is a brilliant actress and was wonderful in the film.’
In addition, there was yet another actress who shared her opinion on the matter and spoke up.
After one user said that it was really ‘shameful’ how Wahlberg got paid $1.5 million for the reshoots while Williams got less than $1,000,’ Williams’ close friend Busy Philipps, joined the outraged list of people, replying: ‘SHAMEFUL IS CORRECT.’
Thankfully, Wahlberg learned about the unfairness of it all and chose to make things right. What do you think about his reaction? Was donating his salary to the cause the right thing to do in this situation?
