It looks like Mariah Carey is ready to bring the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements from Holywood to the music industry as well! At the Golden Globes, the diva chose to also rock black on the red carpet just like most of the other women in attendance.
Mariah took the opportunity to talk about the changes that need to happen all across the board!
‘Of course, it is important for me to support the movement, there is no way I could not. I had a few conversations with Kerry Washington, just talking about the whole thing,’ the singer replied when asked about her decision to wear a black gown at the prestigious event.
She went on to say that ‘even in the music business, we haven’t even touched on that ball of wax. But I believe I need to be a consultant when it is time to talk about that.’
As fans may already know by now, Mariah Carey was nominated for the animated film The Star and it was her very first Golden Globe nomination.
‘As a songwriter, it is a huge honor, and especially as a female, we do not always get acknowledged as songwriters, so that kind of goes with tonight’s theme,’ Carey said.
But while Mariah is a great career woman she is also a dedicated mother.
That being said, did the young ones like their mom’s film?
‘They loved the movie. I think it is such a good movie for kids, for families,’ the star said.
Do you believe the movement should start expanding to the music industry as well and even beyond it?
