Mandy Moore Cried So Hard Watching The Super Bowl Episode Of ‘This Is Us’ She Needed Under Eye Masks

There is something to be said for having the good fortune to land a role on a show that viewers have such a visceral reaction to. The cast of the monster hit This Is Us know this firsthand as they’ve really catapulted into the limelight. Over the past two seasons, the show has hinted at the demise of beloved patriarchal figure Jack Pearson.
Well, it seems that the episode that will air tonight directly following the Superbowl, will finally reveal what happens to the quintessential father of The Big Three.
If Mandy Moore’s warning is any indication, you might need a bit more than a few tissues. A cold compress to combat the swelling that occurs from the ugly cry may be required.
After watching the screening of the episode, Moore took to social media wearing eye masks she needed because of how much she cried while watching the episode.
This is no small feat as the show is known for its perpetual ability to pull on heartstrings and elicit tears on an almost weekly basis. This episode will definitely take the cake as Moore calls it completely “soul-crushing.”
The episode will be a continuation from the last episode, which has a final sequence of scenes which follow Jack, played to perfection by Milo Ventimiglia, as he goes about cleaning the kitchen at the end of a rather disappointing Superbowl Sunday.
The final shot shows him turning off a faulty Crock Pot before heading to bed.
Many viewers were able to guess what was coming next. There have been small hints that the big disaster may be related to a fire. Last season, Moore’s character Rebecca is seen stopping in front of a charred and burnt house.
A couple of episodes ago, the final shot was a batteryless fire alarm after they’d forgotten to pick up some batteries while on an errand.
All signs have pointed to a really gut-wrenching and hard to watch episode that will finally reveal how the revered Jack Pearson meets his fate.
There’s no doubt this episode will be talked about for many weeks and even months to come.
