They both come from prestigious families and are students at Harvard University, but Malia Obama and Rory Farquharson showed they were just a couple of normal teenagers when they walked around SoHo this past weekend. The young couple flirted with each other as they walked down the street and laughed during their first public outing since they became a couple.
Cameras first caught the two together back in November when they were kissing at a tailgate party outside of the Harvard-Yale football game.
During their stroll through New York, the 19-year-olds were a picture of young love. They took time out to do what everyone their age does – stare at their phones.
Farquharson, whose brown hair is styled to flop over one eye, also stopped at one point to smoke a cigarette.

The daughter of former President Barack Obama and the son of a well-to-do London banker supposedly met last fall when they both began their studies at Harvard. Insiders say that Farquharson was popular and “quite a catch” in high school at UK’s distinguished Rugby School, where he was head boy.
The school is famous for its emphasis on the high-contact sport, and the annual tuition is $42,000. After completing his A-levels, Farquharson headed to school in the States and posted a picture of himself on the Harvard campus with the caption, “So it begins.”
He is academically gifted and a talented athlete, playing both rugby and golf for his school. He was also part of the chemistry club known as the Blue Bunsen Society and spent the summer interning with the Center for Democracy and Peace in Northern Ireland.
There was one Obama daughter anecdote to possibly top them all. https://t.co/SBb86srfRW

His father, Charles, has a law degree from St. Catherine’s College in Cambridge and is the chief executive at London’s Insight Investment Management Limited. His mother, Catherine, is an accountant who sits as a layperson on financial and legal tribunals in London’s Upper Tribunal.
Farquharson’s Twitter account suggests that he may be following in his father’s footsteps since he follows several banking-related accounts. He is also a vocal critic of President Trump, retweeting a post that claimed the current President’s “populism” wouldn’t last more than a year.
Last year, Malia Obama’s dad joked that she and her younger sister, Sasha, had started dating but he had nothing to worry about because both of his daughters have Secret Service, so there isn’t much the guys can do.
