Country music legend, Luke Bryan, is joining the likes of Katy Perry and Lionel Richie for this year’s season of American Idol according to the singer’s Twitter account. He wrote, “It’s official” along with a video explaining his choice to join the franchise.
Just a recap, Bryan has released a total of seven albums throughout his career which started to become a hit around 2007. The star’s last three records hit number 1 on the Billboard’s Top Country Album chart.
In a statement that was released by the network, he said, “I’m excited at the chance to help some deserving artists reach their dreams!” He added that to be in such a position is phenomenal and truly inspiring; Luke is glad to help.

Channing Dungey from ABC said, “Luke and Lionel are the perfect addition” to the panel of American Idol judges.
Perry announced recently that he was “thrilled” to be a judge on the popular series and there’s no doubt about that considering the hefty paycheck judges get on the legendary tv show.
Perry said he is “always listening to new music” and enjoys discovering artists that both surprise and delight him. As CI readers know, Ryan Seacrest is coming back to the show as well. On Live With Kelly and Ryan, the co-host announced he would return for another run.
It was “very exciting” and his relationship with the popular show lasted 15 years; he “doesn’t want to break up,” Ryan coyly added. According to his co-host, Kelly Ripa, Ryan is the heart and soul of the TV series, although some might argue that the contestants and judges are more important than the host.
