Unfortunately, for the fans of the pop-star, Lorde, she won’t be performing at this year’s Grammy Awards. Fans of the songstress were hoping she would sing at the ceremony but according to a reports, she is no longer scheduled for a concert.
Previously, the singer was supposed to perform one of her songs from her newest Grammy-nominated album, Melodrama.
However, according to a report from Variety, she was approached by the committee only to sing during a tribute among other stars for the late Tom Petty, an offer she declined.
Lorde reportedly was set to sing the song, “American Girl,” but she and the Grammy’s executives couldn’t reach an agreement.
Fans of the singer noticed that other nominated artists including Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino, and Kendrick Lamar are all up for awards and they’re all performing as well. Each of the artists is competing for Album Of The Year.
However, it’s still possible for Lorde to win this year, as she has won in the past. Back in 2014, Lorde took the award for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song Of The Year for her track, “Royals.”
Despite not playing at the Grammy’s this year, she has graced the red carpet at other events including in New York City at Jack Antonoff’s Ally Coalition benefit as well as the tribute to Fleetwood Mac on behalf of MusiCares.
Lorde had the chance to meet the breakout star, Cardi B, and commented on her ring.
The singer joked that she “saw the ring” so her week is “all done.” As you may know, Cardi B is currently engaged to Migos’ singer, Offset, which is a very popular relationship in the tabloids at the moment.
