During a brand new interview for the Today show, Lisa Marie Presley got candid about her battle with addiction. Apparently, the struggle happened about five years ago, when she was 45.
‘I’ve come a long way. I wasn’t happy. The struggle for me, started at 45 years old. It was not like it was all my life. I’m proud. I really did come a long way. I have a therapist, and she is like, ‘You are a miracle. You really are.’ She’s like, ‘I do not know how you are still alive,’’ the famous daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley shared.
She went on to tell the interviewer, Jenna Bush Hager, that while she is ‘not perfect’ what is more important is what she managed to do with everything she learned from her own mistakes.
‘And then you try to help others with it,’ Lisa Marie pointed out.
Her struggle with the harmful substances was not the only topic of the interview that aired today.
Lisa Marie also talked about the newest album that she co-produced.
Apparently, Where No One Stands Alone has a special meaning for her as it’s a tribute to her legendary father, Elvis Presley.
That being said, the very special album includes not only some of the late singer’s favorite Gospel songs but also a duet featuring the father and daughter.
‘He just loved it. He’d break out into Gospel music whenever and wherever he was, at any time. It is what moved him,’ the daughter explained.
Lisa Marie went on to say that ‘This particular record and song absolutely does [bring memories back] for me and really brings me closer [to him]. It sort of grounded me in the middle of a never-ending tidal wave. It kind of came down and grabbed me, really.’
