Lil Xan got candid about fellow rapper Mac Miller’s shocking passing and how the tragedy has caused him to be unsure about his music career. The young star stopped by Adam22’s podcast titled No Jumper, and during the interview, he also talked about his own drug issues and getting sober.
‘The Mac s**t is crazy. I have been crying in my own apartment, Mac did not die, Mac didn’t overdose,’ Lil Xan shared.
He went on to add that ‘When your hero dies, f**k that s**t, I don’t want to make music no more.’
That being said, Xan seemed pretty determined to retire ‘after this contract.’
The rapper also shared a touching story that happened the very last time he saw Miller alive.
It was at the late star’s last performance, and Miller told him something that really stuck with him.
‘Before I left, he was like ‘Be safe.’ People say that, like ‘be safe.’ But he grabbed me, pulled me back and was like ‘No I mean BE SAFE.’ That almost made me cry, that is my idol right there,’ Xan recalled.
‘I keep thinking about that, how it resonated in my head, how those were his last words.’
Lil Xan, just like Miller, is struggling with drug use as well.
He candidly shared that ‘I want to be clean and sober, but that s**t is hard. I want to get sober right now, completely sober, but it is so hard. I just want to be off everything. I want to be just like any normal person…. if I did not have a tour coming up, I’d be in rehab right now.’
