Even if Lil Wayne and Birdman seemed to make up lately, now Lil Wayne has gone back in court. According to The Blast, he is accusing Birdman of refusing to turn over the documents related to Drake and Nicki Minaj.
On February 21, Wayne filed a motion to compel the Cash Money CEO to produce all the documents necessary to support Weezy’s $50 million-dollar lawsuit against Cash Money Records.
Lil Waynes accused Birdman of misleading the court by pretending that the label turned over all the supporting evidence.
According to Wayne, the 121,000 pages of papers that Cash Money has previously turned are ‘tediously accounting reports prepared by Universal Music, which the Cash Money is under,’ according to The Blast.
Wayne stated that Cash Money was ordered to produce the documents, but it keeps refusing to do so.
He wants data related to Drake and Nicki Minaj, and the label keeps claiming that they don’t have any information on the artists.
According to Wayne, this is impossible because Nicki has been releasing albums with this company since back in 2011.
The Blast also reported that Wayne pointed out that ‘while Cash Money claims their company has earned over $200 million in cash flow, it has no accounting records, no general ledger, no bank account records and no tax returns at all.’
Weezy’s motion accuses Cash Money of not handing over the payment records that the label made to Birdman and his brother, Ronald Williams. He also says that they refuse to hand over tax returns from 2011.
Wayne says that ‘Unless Cash Money admits to criminal failure to file tax returns for 2011 to present, Cash Money must produce these returns.’
The judge did not rule on the motion yet, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
