According to a source who spoke to E! Online, the relationship between Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff is officially over. The frontman of Bleachers and the star of Girls – who started dating back in 2012 – broke up in December of 2017.
An insider who spoke to us said: “the feeling was mutual. It just wasn’t working anymore, and he and Lana were just not feeling it. To top it all off, they’re always so busy with their careers that it made sense just to end it right there. Things went smoothly though; no fighting, none of that stuff.”
Another source added that the split was “clean” and not “messy” because they both want the best for each other. The source claimed, “they are both moving on.”
In October of 2017, Dunham wrote an essay about her former boyfriend in an article for Variety. She said that Jack showed her the importance of using her public platform to make political statements.
Despite their amicable relationship, Dunham, in the past, joked that the chances of her getting married to him were slim to none. Lena said it was more likely to see her “pregnant with twins.”
Just a few months ago, the 32-year-old said on Twitter that she thought she heard Antonoff talking about asking her to get married.
However, the truth is that he was actually “talking s*it” about her rather than planning a proposal. She said it’s been 5.5 years and there still hasn’t been a rock so “it’s really nice.”
Lena and Jack met up on a blind date five years ago, and it surprisingly lasted much longer than what you’d expect from that kind of scenario. Fans will remember when Lena said she wouldn’t marry until gay marriage was made legal in the United States.
