Kim Kardashian and Alice Marie Johnson were in attendance on the Today show with Hoda Kotb. During the interview, the KUWK star opened up about how she helped Johnson obtain a presidential pardon for her life in prison sentence despite only being guilty of a non-violent, first-time drug offense.
‘It became a mission I just did not want to give up. I think to some people this might seem like, ‘OK, Kim made a phone call to the President and showed up,’ [but] we had been in talks and working on this for seven months. It was not an instant thing,’ the star explained.
As you may be aware, the Kardashian reached out to Ivanka Trump, before managing to get a meeting with her father, president Donald Trump at the end of last month.
‘I called Ivanka, and we had a really great conversation about women and wanting to help each other. I knew she would’ve understood Alice, and she immediately was so receptive and so great.’
As for going to the White House, Kim admitted that it felt ‘overwhelming in the most amazing way,’ but fortunately, she had a very good icebreaker in mind.
‘I first said that I’m here because I really want to know why you kicked Khloe off The Apprentice, and he laughed, and it broke the ice and then he got focused.’
After the successful meeting at the Oval Office, is Kim considering a career in politics?
‘People have been asking me, ‘Are you getting into politics?’ and no, I am still doing me. But I enjoy this. This has fulfilled my heart and since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?’ Kim Kardashian dished.
