In addition to Kristen switching up film-genre, the comedienne will be playing the role of Cheetah, the villain.
In a change of character, Wiig will be taking on the part as the antagonist determined to take down Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.
Jenkin’s sequel to the massively successful predecessor is turning out to be the highlight of the cinematic universe in 2019. As it was previously reported, Wonder Woman broke several records last year and received ubiquitous praise from critics and audiences alike.
The film made its premiere in Shanghai on the 15th of May in 2017 and went on to be the fifth-highest-grossing superhero film in the USA and is the 20th highest-grossing film in the US.
The movie made nearly a billion dollars at the box office, reeling in a total of $821 million worldwide. Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ aggregator, has Wonder Woman listed as the second best superhero movie ever.
Furthermore, the American Film Institute claimed it was one of the best movies of 2017. It looks like 2019 is shaping up to be another excellent year for Gadot and Jenkins, one can only hope Wiig can effectively play a more serious part.
