Kim Kardashian has landed herself in yet another media frenzy trying to defend her husband Kanye West. A clip from the upcoming season finale of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” was released this morning but the word is that it was never supposed to see the light of day and has been cut from the program.
You probably remember when Kanye West went on TMZ and, in the heat of one of his rants, stated that slavery “sounds like a choice” to him. The statement was problematic for obvious reasons that would take an eternity to list.
Kim was understandably upset when the interview hit the internet causing millions of people to be angry with her husband.
In a clip that was released this morning, Kim explains to her best friend Johnathan Cheban how the incident went down.
“He’s doing good; everyone thinks he’s having a breakdown. I rushed home, I was hysterically crying. So I go home…he’s totally fine.”
She went on to misquote him.
“I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re gonna write a headline and people are gonna assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant. He didn’t say slavery is a choice, he was saying if you’re gonna still be enslaved for another 400 years then that’s some bulls***.”
When, in reality, Yeezy’s exact words were: “You hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. You were there for 400 years and it was all of y’all? It’s like we’re meant to be in prison. I like the word ‘prison’ because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks…Prison is something that unites us as one race.”
TMZ immediately took notice of the “KUWK” star’s error and called her out, sharing the soundbite from his appearance again.
The publication later realized that the clip was never supposed to be shared and was even axed from the hour of the show on Sunday.
“It was never approved for the episode, because when Kim watched it back, she realized it was inaccurate and not reflective of what happened at TMZ that day. The preview clip has been pulled by E!”
