It may seem like Kim Kardashian is one of the most confident women on earth, but she’s just like everyone else when it comes to her image. In an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that aired Sunday, the soon-to-be mother of three discussed her issues with body dysmorphia after photos were released of her on a Mexican vacation.
If you can recall, a few months ago multiple pictures circulated around the internet of Kim Kardashian at the beach. The stills showed her in a bathing suit with cellulite (which nearly everyone has) on her legs and butt.
The photos were taken and released without her permission which prompted many social media users to flock to the mogul’s Instagram, calling her out for Photoshop usage and lying about what she really looks like.
It’s true that Kim has cellulite which is totally okay, but some people edited the shots to make them look like she has more than she actually does.
During the episode, Kim sees the photos and freaks out. She leaves the poolside to start untagging herself and explains: “You take pictures and people just body shame you. It’s like literally giving me body dysmorphia. Like, I’m so insecure, I just can’t take it.”
The reality of it is that it’s natural for people to have cellulite and body-shaming is never okay.
Being a celebrity in the spotlight puts many women in a place to be scrutinized which causes them to develop unhealthy behaviors.
Some people feel that using editing programs like Photoshop sends a bad message and that the reality star is just mad that what she really looks like came to light.
Hopefully, Kim didn’t let the incident get to her too much and she finds healthy ways to cope with criticism.
Do you think that the use of Photoshop is why so many women have issues with their confidence today?
