With the Kardashian family being one of the most visible – and successful – families out there, there’s no doubt that they often have to deal with lawsuits, hate-mail, and brutal social media commentary. It appears as though Kim Kardashian is the latest target.
According to a report from TMZ.com, Kim Kardashian, who recently created another product – a perfume called, “Vibes,” – is now being sued for supposedly stealing the logo from another brand.
Kim’s perfume comes in a black bottle shaped like a chat bubble with the word inside it, “Vibes.” As a result of her marketing ploy, Vibes Media, a company from Chicago, is now suing Mrs. Kardashian for the improper and illicit use of the logo.
According to TMZ.com, Vibes Media are seeking payment for damages and also want the remaining products retracted from the market. As it was previously reported, Kim was accused of stealing a design from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique, which came out back in 1993.
Jean Paul Gaultier, himself, took to social media and compared his design to Kim’s on Instagram. He wrote in the caption, “Keeping up with the fragrance news.”
Whether it’s intentional or not, there’s no question that her design did look a lot of like the classic Gaultier product. As fans of the family know, Kim isn’t the only one to take heat for plagiarism.
Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner found themselves at the center of a lawsuit from the estate of The Notorious B.I.G. The two models had their images superimposed over classic t-shirts from Biggie Smalls, Ozzy Osbourne, and Jim Morrison from The Doors.
As a result, they had to apologize and quickly took those products off the market. Sharon Osbourne also slammed them for using the likeness of Ozzy without permission. Luckily, the estates of the artists involved were kind enough to only send a cease and desist letter and not take it one step further.
