The sex scandal that Kevin Spacey is currently embroiled in has so many layers that it is hard to keep up.
In a statement issued by Netflix, it was confirmed that the company is hitting pause on House of Cards while Spacey is still part of critically-acclaimed series.
Hoping to save the show, the producers are asking supporters for their input on how to kill off Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood. Fans have different reactions to the news.
Some say get rid of him while others state that Donald Trump, who has been accused of similar crimes, is president so give the fake POTUS a break.
Someone with mixed emotions said: “Did he wait 30 years? Why? Why even say anything. SMH. Isn’t there some statute of limitations? I think that half of Hollywood would be under investigation if others came out with sexual assault allegations. But on the other hand Kevin did apologize, and to me why do that if you aren’t guilty.”
Another claimed: “Unfortunately, though we learned this month that the thing that delights both Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein is the sexual assault of the young impressionable people working on movies with them trying to further their careers, taking advantage of the young and impressionable.”
A third commenter dragged Trump in the mess by writing: “A higher standard? Due process had shown the bullshit of the accusations against Trump. Let’s see how due process works for Kevin Spacey.. after he uses being drunk and gay as excuses for his actions.”
In related Spacey news, eight people, who have worked on the set of House of Cards, spoke to CNN and revealed that they had been sexually harassed by the star.
A crew member said. “He would put his hands on me in weird ways. He would come in and massage my shoulders from behind or put his hands around me or touch my stomach sometimes in weird ways that in normal conversation would not be appropriate.”
An assistant explained: “I do not doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position. It was a toxic environment for young men who had to interact with him at all in the crew, cast, background actors.”
Mr. Spacey has also been dumped by his talent agents at CAA and his publicist, Staci Wolfe, at Polaris.
