Kendall Jenner ruffled some feathers with a statement she made to Love Magazine in its September issue. After models expressed their anger over what she said, Kendall’s reps have released a statement.
People who follow fashion may have noticed that Kendall took a break from doing runway. The “KUWK” star has been vocal about her struggle with crippling anxiety which contributed to her decision to get out of the spotlight.
When explaining her absence, she said that she has a million other jobs — not just catwalks — she added that she was never “one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f*** those girls do. More power to ‘em.”
Other models with less popular names but more show credits took offense to what they thought seemed like shade.
Julia Ratner went on her Instagram Story to write: “Honestly, Kendall, just keep your f***** mouth shut.”
Faretta used the same outlet to say: “Seriously?!?! Being lazy is not being selective. We work! hard and giving 100% from us, but you can’t say that for yourself… and after all you dare talk like this?!”
After catching wind of the backlash, Kendall’s rep made a statement to Teen Vogue that read: “It was not what she meant. The quote was taken out of context. Midthought she realized the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it’s their path and ‘the more power to them.’ She admires their hard work and dedication. It’s an accomplishment.”
Many people find the reality star’s statement offensive because they feel that she was able to reach model status due to her name and not her talent. According to Kendall, her journey to becoming the highest paid model was not due to her fame — it actually made it harder.
Do you think Jenner’s revelation was offensive? Do you think Kendall deserves the position she’s in?
