Kendall Jenner revealed she is pretty picky when it comes to accepting runway gigs and now she is getting backlash. Apparently, fellow models are offended by her comment.
In an interview for British magazine LOVE, published a couple of days ago, the supermodel made some statements that got people mad at her again.
The controversial quote was shared by the publication on their social media platforms.
‘Since the beginning, we have been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of the girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f**k those girls do,’ Kendall says during the chat with LOVE.
“Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back,” says the 22-year-old, admitting that she “was on the verge of a mental breakdown.” #LOVE20

She went on: ‘More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming, and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.’
It is safe to say that many models that do not have the luxury to be picky about their modeling jobs were offended.
Russian model Daria Strokous made her opinion on the whole thing known on social media.
Page Six reports that Daria wrote, alongside a screen cap of LOVE’s post: ‘Whatever the f*** those girls do’ is they do their very best to make their way up AND make some money so that they can provide for themselves and for their families. Oh, and it is 70 shows a season by the way, and we are all f***ing proud of every one of the girls that do it.’
Teddy Quinlivan, a 24-year-old transgender model, was also outraged.
‘As models, we need to uplift each other. We all work extremely hard to pursue our dreams even the ‘girls who walk 30 shows a season or whatever the f*** those girls do.’ If you’re lucky, you might make enough not to be in debt to your agency; maybe also move out of the model apartment… if you’re lucky. Models do not just come from Calabasas… they come from Somalia, the Siberian tundra, a rural village in China, a trailer park in Tennessee,’ she posted on Instagram Stories.
Amid the controversy, a rep for Kendall talked to HollywoodLife, stating that ‘The quote was taken out of context. Mid-thought, Kendall realized the number of shows models usually walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it is their path and ‘the more power to them.’ She admires their hard work and dedication. It is an accomplishment.’
